How to Remove an Agilent 6890 Split/Splitless Inlet | GC Maintenance
In this hands-on GC maintenance video, I show how I replace the top shell weldment on an Agilent 6890 split/splitless inlet.
The top shell weldment is part of the inlet assembly and can require replacement when it becomes damaged, contaminated, or no longer performs reliably after repeated maintenance.

• Installing the replacement weldment
• Reassembling the inlet
• Checking the system after the repair
This is a repair beyond routine liner, septum, or gold seal replacement and requires working directly with the inlet hardware.
The Agilent 6890 remains widely used in analytical laboratories, and maintaining these older instruments in-house can keep them productive for many years.
